South Australia's Spatial Information Directory (SID)

South Australia's Spatial Information Directory (SID) is a subset of the Australian Spatial Data Directory (ASDD) and contains metadata for many of the state's spatial datasets. These datasets cover state government, local government and academia. The content of SID is to soon to be extended to include more datasets from local government. Metadata from the State of the Environment Data Inventory (SOEDI) has recently been incorporated into SID.

The Metadata and Modelling Working Group, a sub-group of the Spatial Information Committee (SICOM), has a number of responsibilities relating to the state's Spatial Information Directory, these include:

  • coordinating the collection and distribution of spatial dataset metadata of SA Government, Local Government and academic institutions;
  • developing a plan to ensure the ongoing maintenance of SA spatial metadata and the SA node of the ASDD;
  • monitoring initiatives by standards bodies and other jurisdictions involved in spatial metadata management and dissemination (including ANZLIC and ISO).
